Gaza Strip: Israeli’s Desperado

Posted by: tomtomaneh on: December 30, 2008

Roughly 300 palestinian were killed, and 1700 others were injured during Israeli’s military campaign on Gaza Strip. Various responses were raised by the world, may it be Isareli-Pro such as those from Deutch and Australia, or the Palestinian-Pro statement that had been released by various government such as Iran’s and Indonesia’s.

The official reason of the attack is retaliation against rocket attacks that have been launched by Hamas onto the southern Israel during the blocade. However, this so called retaliation have been seen as both “overreacting and unproportional” to be consider a “just retaliation”.

I see the attack on Gaza Strip as desperate measure taken by Israeli current government to maintain their hegemony on the middle east. It’s clear that the attack is an attempt to exterminate Hamas. A faction which Israeli has failed to exterminate using other method. For years, Israeli have been trying any sort of way, war or diplomatic, soft and violence to exterminate Hamas and its resistance against Israel along the Gaza strip.

However, the lattest policy (military policy to be exact) is widely considered to be overreacting and unproportional. In other words, this attack can be seen as desperate action. The stake is high here for Israel. Their attempt to weaken Hamas power and position could backfired to them. This is so because on this attack, the world sees Hamas as the victim, and not the criminal. (thanks to massive and unproportional attack by Israel). And Hamas may gain symphaty from throughout the world due to this situation.

According to Ehud Barak, right now Israel is ready to fight untill the end. And i think that’s exactly what they intend to do. The only happy ending there is for Israel right now is a full extermination of Hamas. If, by any means Israeli failed to gain full control of Gaza Strip,, or on the worse case scenario, repelled and lose plenty of their firepower in the attack, Israeli will face a grave situation: not just losing significant amount of their military power, but also will give Hamas and The Palestinians huge symphaty and support by the world.

So,, i realy believe Israel will go Gung Ho this time. Coz, they have to. But surely Hamas and the palestinians will make it tough for them to do so. If Israeli can’t defeat Hamas in all these years, why can they know? But it’s also true the other way around, if Hamas can’t defeat Israel after all those years why can they know? But of course, the situation is different here, Israeli’s desperate (and a little careless) measure have make the stake’s high for them, way high.

So Hamas just need to defend, but of course with all the high-end military craft and firepower The Israeli won’t go easy on Hamas..

So Who’ll win?? well, we’ll see…
